Self Portraits
With this series I was inspired by my connection to nature and love for art and design. In my design work, I often explore different textures and patterns. For this series I utilized floral textures, patterns, and the plants I found around my apartment.
Reshoot:
I love the use and idea of flowers in all of your pictures. As they are on of my favorite things to photograph up close, I think you did a very good job. I also like how you used your eyes as the centerpiece for most of your pictures. The overall tone is also very pleasing with a bright sort of spring feel which Im yearning for right now in snowy and cold Colorado. I believe that a reshoot on the one with the pink lace would be helpful to get more of your face in the picture and not hidden. Maybe find a way to sho your eyes more like the pictures before it. Great Job!
ReplyDeleteFirst off, your eyes are actually insane and I like that you used them as a focal point .The third picture is probably my favorite because it focuses on your eyes and you see such a crazy amount of detail inside of them, the green really makes it pop and it's just pleasing to the eye.I'd say re-shoot the last two because I think they came out a little blurry or maybe I'm just going blind but yea.Oh and maybe have your eyes open for the last two as well I don't know how it would look but just a thought.
ReplyDeleteIn your second photograph, featuring your hair, you present many organic shapes, which really stand out against the plain background. Many different textures are present, between your hair and the flowers. These textures seem to guide your eye from one aspect of the focal point to the next. One thing I would work on in this photograph is making it appear to be more abstract. I believe it would be really interesting if you really pushed this composition so that the viewer, at first glance, would not be aware that they are looking at the top of someone's head.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of flowers and lace. It gives a nice natural and feminine aspect to the images. I agree with the comment above about trying the last two with your eyes open, I think that your eye color would come through in a really cool way with the black shadows.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy the second photo, as the plants work very well with your eye color and the perspective is very well done. I think you nailed the framing and have just the right amount of detail in the photo. The picture I think could use the most work is the second to last. I like the concept of it but I think it could use stronger lighting and may benefit from zooming out to allow more detail through the front pattern.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love your pictures. I love how you used the lace over your camera to create that projected lace vibe. I also love your eyes they are so vibrant and beautiful and they add so much the image. I like how you blurred out the background in the snow flake image and the flower image. I love how your eyes are positioned and how the background makes it look like you're in rain forest. I also really like how your hair is wet because it also created that paradise rain forest vibe. You look beautiful in that picture! I think for the flower picture around your hair try and change the background because that's such a pretty flower but the wall just doesn't emphasize the flower because of the color.
ReplyDeletethese pictures are amazing!! Im most intrigued by the one with the pink lace over your face. I think that speak a lot about pattern and how you it's a lot of what you see in your work. that was definitely the most potential and so does the first image. For a re-shoot i would recommend taking more with the pink lace and see what other ideas you can come up with.
ReplyDeleteLove the use of props and variety. I think that these images do a really good job of telling the viewer who you are. Good use of natural tones. I think that these are all very strong, though if I had to choose, I'd say that the final two images deserve a reshoot. I think perhaps if you shot a bit closer, it would make the images more visually striking. The other images focus more on your face and overlaying flower patterns, so I feel like the last two images would work better if you focused on the patterns on your face.
